Well, this week has been monumental for me.
I have not written because I have been too sick with hormonal problems. I was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday with abnormal heart beats and palpitations. It is absolutely related to my worsening undiagnosed thyroid issues....the problem is that not one doctor is capable of seeing it.
I stopped taking the MMS when I went into the hospital. I am only drinking one or two glasses of water a day because right now that is all I can handle.
This post is not about MMS but is about what I learned about the thyroid, chronic fatigue, and fibromyalgia this week. MUST READ if you have any of these or suspect you do.
Firstly, most doctors have NO clue about the thyroid. So here is the million dollar information that can really spare a lot of people years of suffering: IF YOU HAVE CHRONIC FATIGUE OR FIBROMYALGIA CHANCES ARE YOU HAVE THYROID PROBLEMS. PERIOD.
Most times thyroid tests will come back within what the doctors term "normal" ranges. If a doctor tells you you do nto have a thyroid problem because you are within normal ranges, FIND ANOTHER DOCTOR RIGHT AWAY.
For the last 9 months I have ran all over this country of Sweden trying to find help for what I know is my adrenal fatigue and thyroid imbalances. It took an $170.00 phone conversation with a PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL RESEARCHER in the US in the area of thyroidism to realize that all the thyroid tests DO NOT MEAN A THING...THEY ARE WORTHLESS.
The doctor he referred me to, which so happens to live here where I live and has taken me over 9 months to find, has also done scientific research on the thyroid. MANY MANY people who have NORMAL ranges on their thyroid tests and who are chronically sick with fibromyalgia dn chronic fatigue actually have autoimmune reactions happening in their thyroid, have inflammed thyroid and GET BETTER WHEN ARE TREATED FOR HYPOTHYROIDISM.
WOW...incredible that NOBODY seems to know this. Even the doctor who published these medical papers here in Sweden are being persecuted and harassed for his scientific findings and they are threatening to take away his medical license.
Anyway, the test that this doctor conducts is rarely done in the US and is called a Fine needle aspiration where they take tissue out of the thyroid. Obviously it needs to be done by someone experienced, but it shows that indeed the cause of the chronic pain and illness associated with these conditions is due to imbalances within the thyroid, and when the TSH is lowered, then you can be well. Over HALF of those who are NORMAL in their thyroid tests, actually have thyroid problems that can be treated successfully and is TOTALLY missed by most doctors.
Moral of the story...if you are chronically ill, GET YOUR THYORID CHECKED and find a good doctor who knows about these things.
This doctor is a wealth of brilliant information. You can pay to consult with him on the phone at $4.25 a minute and he will help you take the proper tests even if you live in another state.
You do not need to suffer as I have. I hope to get this fine needle aspiration test this week so that my agony may finally end.
Do yourself a favor and check out this web site if you think you are hypothyroid, have chronic fatigue, or fibromyalgia. It may be the best thing you can do for your health.

Here is the page taken from Dr. Lowe's site with information about the Swedish doctor who diagnoses those who come back with normal lab tests. This information was published in medical journals and is being ignored by Swedish doctors. This may be helpful for those in Europe.

I wish you all well...

Interesting post, thanks! I had a similar experience with thyroid tests coming back fine, but having a thyroid issue anyway. I've had a lot of help from Applied Kineseologists who have been able to use muscle tests to diagnose my subclinical thyroid condition. It's been a lot cheaper and more painless then all the traditional testing, though I did have to be careful to choose AK docs that I could trust. Just a thought :)
ReplyDeleteI also went through what you did with undiagnosed hypothyroidism with normal TSH tests. I also found Dr. Lowe's site (thyroidscience.us) and have been successfully treating my condition for almost a year now. It has been a godsend for me. As with most natural thyroid supplements, start slowly. Usually after 1 to 2 weeks you will probably feel like you're regressing again. This is the time to increase your dosage. Some people will get relief with 1 to 2 capsules, others may need much more. I was up to 8 capsules of Thyro-Gold at one point and now I only need 2 per day. Due to my Adrenal Fatigue symptoms, I also used the Isocort offered on his site. I used 8 pellets at one point and now only use 1 pellet per day. It is a strong and effective help for Adrenals but like everything else, take it slow and be smart about it. If you ever feel worse while using these supplements, slow down. Reduce your dosage if you suspect you may be taking too much or even stop if you feel it is not helping you. Years ago doctors would do a "trial" of thyroid supplementation to see if the patient felt better or not on it. If they felt better, they told the patient to keep taking it. If not, then they tried something else. Today doctors are stuck relying on the TSH test and it doesn't tell you if your body is converting T4 to T3 in the liver so you body can utilize it OR how well your body is using the T3. It is best to treat the obvious hypo symptoms rather than rely on a useless and expensive TSH test.
ReplyDeleteMy Fibromyalgia is now gone since I started treating my hypothyroidism. I had it for almost 20 years--diagnosed by many doctors. I was one of the 85% of women with FMS caused by an underlying thyroid problem (according to double-blind studies). I had injured the thyroid area in my neck more than once with a bad fall and then a bad whiplash which can injure the thyroid. My FMS started shortly after the first neck injury. I gained 20 pounds in one month after the 2nd neck injury. Doctors would see how swollen my neck was and then do the TSH test. Then they would always tell me that my thyroid levels were "just fine" and refuse to treat me despite the obvious hypo symptoms. After the TSH levels were modified a few years ago by major Endocrinalogists my doctor said the changes were "controversial" and STILL refused to treat my officially abnormal TSH levels. My outer eyebrows thinned and the weight started to pile on. Plus my fingernails were brittle and splitting. But the doctors would not listen to me.
So glad this went well for you and you found the help you needed. I simply ordered the Thryo-Gold (& the previous Hypo Support Formula) and carefully used them to get well. Thanks also to Dr. Lowe for having the compassion and intelligence (and the Kahunas!) to make this available to us.
All the best,
Bobbi
annika try making miso every day, put kombu and wakame, boild softly for 20 minutes ( I add bonito flakes in mine) then add miso, heat (don't boil again) and drink, make it every day. It's a miracle worker for thyroid issues...
ReplyDeleteI have low thyroid problem and have been on desiccated bovine thyroid for almost 2 years. It feels good when it decreased my fatigue and depression.
ReplyDeleteI have fibromyalgia and cfs and am taking MMS. I believe however it's effecting the absorption of my thyroid medication.

I remembered when I had surgery, my thyroid levels had decreased and my doctor recommended natural thyroid supplement . As I was doing some research about the thyroid supplements available I discovered bovine thyroid. After using it for 3 days, I felt a noticeable difference in my body, mind, attitude and physical capability.
